I am a simple thinking Atlantic Canadian But I think that Canadian Christians ie Baptist churches should take a stand to value the land and rights as well as the heath of indigenous peoples .
Danny, Excellent video on DOD. I recently came across another done by the Anglican Church of Canada, “Doctrine of Discovery Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts”. It can be found st this website link: https://www.anglican.ca/primate/tfc/drj/doctrineofdiscovery/
Much stunning information for me. Something I did not know is that the Crown will make all decisions for the Indigenous peoples. Is it true what one person quoted was that the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs has the power to change an Indigenous persons will? This is incredibly oppressive. And toward the end one notes that he has asked white leaders, “Where did the white leaders get their authority to say to the Indian, he should stay in one place, when the white man can go anywhere he pleases?” He then commented that he has received no answer to this question and said, “Let the Native be free to act for himself.” Thank you for these teachings.
Danny, Second note. Just reviewing our copy July/August issue of Faith Today which arrived in today’s mail. Amazingly, I came across your “On a Journey” story. Well done. As one with European background, I also have begun a new journey of learning about the true history of these great lands we live in.

I agree Neal!
Why does it continue? We can not change the past but we have some control of what should happen now.
Agreed Wayne. It has been repudiated, at least in Canada. The problem, like so many things, is that we live in the after affects of its legacy.
i am so sad, and overwhelmed.
