Really appreciate their comments in the video and how important it is for the “white” North American church to hear theology from indigenous groups. Being able to mutually share the Gospel and partner in doing this is an exciting way forward.
Rev. Richard Twiss expressed such a vital principle: “to sort out the culture from the gospel.” (time 3:50-4:05) He later reiterates, “How do we follow Jesus without being forced to accept cultural ways….” He aptly conveyed this fundamental concern. My attention was equally piqued when we were encouraged to stop viewing the Indigenous as a perpetual mission field. Some are partners: brothers and sisters in Christ.
